senior manager, grant & policy

 

The Senior Grant and Policy Manager is responsible for leading and managing the entire process of written content creation for all of Clark Street’s clients, across multiple technologies and industries, from concept development and messaging, to drafting and submission.  This includes managing the entire grant writing and submission process for multiple clients, as well as developing white papers, preproposals, RFI responses and other written documents and presentation materials, to both technical and non-technical audiences, for Clark Street and Clark Street clients. In addition to managing the grant process, the Senior Grant and Policy Manager will lead the research and development of memos, position papers, OpEds and other written materials, in collaboration with each of Clark Street’s Client Execution Teams, targeting technology and policy audiences.

Location: Silicon Valley, Washington DC, and Virtual

  • Managing the end-to-end grant proposal development and submission process for multiple companies and technologies (in collaboration with the team at Clark Street and our clients), starting from messaging and storyboarding all the way through drafting, review and submission
  • Developing strategies, through direct engagement with clients, the government, think tanks and others, for how Clark Street’s clients can address key policy objectives (e.g. Justice 40), while also achieving their technical and business objectives for each grant proposal
  • Researching and developing technology and impact messaging (both industry and policy) for different projects, connecting our clients’ capabilities to critical public policy objectives associated with technology, supply chain, national security, societal impact and other relevant factors
  • Translating loosely defined, mission-oriented objectives for a project into concrete and actionable objectives and then driving those to high-impact written deliverables
  • Managing each project’s team to ensure high quality content is created and submitted on time, including defining objectives and the final deliverables
  • Leading discussions to generate new insights and concept strategies, and quickly turning them into written content that is focused and compelling to multiple audiences
  • Developing a scalable process for managing and communicating collateral development, timelines, and updates to internal and external audiences
  • Thinking holistically across the Clark Street client base to identify trends and generate thought pieces for policy and investor audiences

  • Track record of successfully winning grant proposals and drafting high impact, widely read written content (grant writing for for-profit entities, a big plus)

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience writing proposals for federal government grant and/or technical-policy writing

Technology manager

The Technology Manager is responsible for managing client engagements, as the functional project lead. The Technical Manager will manage technical, scientific, research and quantitative analysis projects, in support of client engagements, with a focus on helping commercial technology clients implement strategies for securing funding and programs from federal and state governments, as well as commercial partners. In addition, the Technical Manager will be tasked with providing day-to-day management over assigned Analysts within a project group as well as coordinating the firm’s efforts with its lobbying partners on projects.

  • Manage client engagements, as the functional project lead, with oversight and input from Directors, VPs and the CEO.
  • Lead the completion of client deliverables, with minimal oversight from Directors and VPs, including defining project objectives and tactics, working with and managing Analyst(s) assigned to the project to gather and prepare the necessary materials and information that include value propositions and performing and completing any necessary technical analysis for the project.
  • Produce final, polished materials to clients, on time and meeting or exceeding expectations.
  • Generate final technical materials (written and in presentation or spreadsheet format), including developing initial objectives and tactics. These include, but are not limited to, client presentations, quantitative technical value-propositions, collateral, concept papers and white papers for clients and government consumers.
  • Lead client meetings and subsequent strategy discussions, including developing the objectives and desired outcomes for the meeting, creating agendas and ensuring that all participants are prepared to contribute their parts of the meeting, in advance.
  • Prepare follow-up or supporting technical analyses in response to requests for additional information resulting from meetings
  • Strategic management of grant applications, whitepapers, and RFP responses.
  • Independently identify and research companies, technologies and government programs, based on knowledge of various client projects, and their objectives.   • Prepare internal technical memos and presentations based on their own insight into the needs and objectives of various client and non-client projects.
  • Manage the rest of the project team and/or clients on targeted assignments, including defining the objectives and the generating the final deliverables.
  • Manage and mentor Analysts, including but not limited to training on CSA processes and procedures, assigning and overseeing project related tasks, establishing project deadlines, reviewing work product, acting as coach and mentor and conducting performance appraisals.

  • Participate in client meetings and subsequent client strategy discussions, including delivering content and directing discussions in areas where they provide specific expertise and insight into the presentation and discussion. This includes leading certain follow-up actions, with input from Directors, Managers or Senior Analysts.
